Hiking around villages Vadul Rascov, Climauti, Socol, Cot of Soldanesti district stretched along the right bank of the Dniester River. All attractions of this area require 2 days of hiking, which is why we tailor the route according to interests of participants.

Interesting rocky slopes along the river Dniester, several deep and narrow canyons, high hills above the river and the villages offer an unusual for Moldova impression of hiking in foothills region.

Rocks above village Socol have several grottos, some of which were digged artificially, but have very difficult access. This system of grottos is considered to be an ancient place for refuge and religious services, dated back to X century.

Due to its location on Dniester river, the place was a trading point with Black Sea and Mediterranean basins. Would the river be still navigable, the four villages could easily grow into a town/city.

Between Vadul Rascov and Socol villages there are two big Jewish cemeteries. It is considered that this was a graveyard for many Jews from the region.

Across the Dniester is village Rascov (Transnistrian region), which has a beautiful Catholic Church. It reminds of times when that area was under Polish rule (together with the rest of Ukraine).

Participants need to have hiking shoes and comfortable hiking wind-protective clothing, small backpack. Food and drink (min. 1,5 liters) - on your own.

Typical duration: 12 hours = 6.5 hours hiking + 1 hour lunch and sightseeing + 4.5 hours round-trip from Chisinau
