Hiking . . .  To the Highest Point of Moldova

The Highest Point of Moldova is at 428 meters above sea level, between village Balanesti in Nisporeni district and village Temeleuti, Calarasi district.

 

The hike will start from village Temeleuti, across agricultural fields and the Codru forest in spring colors we'll ultimately arrive to the top of Moldova, which is located on the main Moldovan water dividing ridge. Half of rain waters are heading to the east - to go into the river Nistru and further to the Black Sea.

The other half heads to the west to collect into Prut river. In clear weather from the top one can see clearly both directions. Europe (Romanian hills) is clearly observed on western horizon.

 

Participants need to have hiking shoes and comfortable hiking wind-protective clothing, small backpack. Food and drink (min. 1,5 liters) - on your own.

 

Typical duration: 9 hours = 5 hours hiking + 1,5 hours stops for snacks and sightseeing + 2,5 hours round-trip transport from Chisinau
