The scenery reservation "The Castle" makes part of the nature complex Gordinesti - Buzdugeni - Branzeni, district Edinet, with total surface of 746 ha.

This complex has the most picturesque landscapes of the basin of creek Racovat and of the North-West of the Republic of Moldova. Reservation includes forest Gordinesti, located on the right of creek Racovat and forest Stanca on its left. This is a refuge of rare and unique species of wild flora and fauna.

Abrupt slopes of the creek Racovat create one of the deepest canyons from Moldova, with many grottos which serve as refuge for eagles and reptiles. On the surface are coming calcareous rock of toltres with fossil remains of the fauna, and evidences of the culture of the primitive man.

Hiking distance: 14 km Typical duration: 11 hours = 5 hours hiking + 1.5 hour lunch, sightseeing + 4.5 hours round-trip from Chisinau

You need to have hiking shoes and comfortable hiking clothing, wind coat, small backpack. Food and drink (min. 1.5 liters) - on your own.
