We
start this trip before entering village Bahmut on the road to Ungheni.
The rout goes through Codru forested hills, offers picturesque rural
environment, excellent views, clean air, several small villages.
At
the end of the trip we reach one of the four monasteries located in
form of a Cross in the Codru forest, namely Harjauca. This is one of
the oldest and most important monasteries from Basarabia, built in 1740
when it was completely surrounded by forest.
In
the vicinity there is one of the four Moldovan Health Resorts "Codru".
Not
far in village Palanca there are two other important attractions:
Muzeum
"Parents House (Casa Parinteasca)", founded by craftswoman Tatiana Popa,
born in this house, which used to belong to her father, who was deported
to Siberia. Communist authorities deprived the family from this house
for more than half a century, using it for community administration
(soviet satesc), later as a warehouse. It currently hosts an ethnic
museum and runs different workshops and other cultural events.
Just
nearby is a Wooden Church, considered to be the oldest of this kind
in Moldova, built in XVI century.
Approx.
length of the trail 15 km. Typical duration: 9,5 hours = 5 hours hike
through the forest + 1 hour lunch & sightseeing + 1,5 hours visiting
monastery, wooden church + 2 hours roundtrip from Chisinau.
Distance
from Chisinau : 66 km
