First destination of the excursion is Convent in village Condrita, which is only 30 km away from Chisinau in a forest. The neighboring village by the same name is known for summer camps. Just on the other side of the hill is a Presidential retreat. This convent is undergoing a restoration based on own efforts of funds collection and citizens initiative, versus a presidential order.

The second monastery is in village Capriana. The name comes from "Deer", symbolic of the ancient forest. This monastery was founded by Stephan the Great, the historic ruler of greater Moldova. The restoration process is mostly fueled by a presidential Decree, funds collected from enterprises around the country, and by populating it with soldiers for maintenance.

Third one is Hancu, a convent surrounded by forest. The restoration process started in early days of Moldovan independence, being backed by support of that day president. Construction plans envisaged several new buildings, among which a hotel and a huge building of a second church. That church is so large, that it suppresses nature with concrete and steel in the middle of the forest. The famous curing water spring has since then disappeared, having no power to struggle with huge weight of the foundation. The power has changed, new country president didn't pay attention to the site favored by the previous ruler, so the construction process is lasting till now.

Typical duration: 7,5 hours = 4 hours excursions + 1 hour lunch and sightseeing + 2,5 hours round-trip from Chisinau.

No hiking, just light walks. Take your own food and water (1 liter). In Condrita and Hincu there are fresh water springs.
